Fri 7/30th 7:30pm: The timeless story of Romeo and Juliet is transported to the mean streets of New York in the big screen update of the acclaimed Broadway musical. Fri 7/30th 8pm: When his family goes away for the summer, a hitherto faithful husband with an overactive imagination is tempted by a beautiful neighbor played by Marilyn Monroe. THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH (1955) screens at REDFORD THEATRE, MICHIGAN. The first scene was shot at the glorious original Penn Station atrium in NYC prior to it’s demolition and deeply reviled replacement. Ongoing: Paul Schrader’s BLUE COLLAR (1978) screens at New York’s FILM FORUM. Fed up with management and their own reps, Detroit auto workers (in the factory that made NYC’s storied Checker cabs) Richard Pryor, Harvey Keitel and Yaphet Kotto knock over union headquarters, netting a lousy 600 bucks – along with a ledger detailing mob link-ups that gets them in steadily deeper waters. Fri 7/30th 4:20pm: Academy Award-winning director Hayao Miyazaki makes his feature film debut in this beloved chapter of the LUPIN THE 3rd saga, with a new 4k restoration. LUPIN THE 3RD: THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO screens at ROXIE THEATER San Francisco. More info HERE.

Sat 7/31st 9:30pm: Catch a JOHN CARPENTER MARATHON at PRINCE CHARLES CINEMA London, including ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK and THEY LIVE followed by the ‘Apocalpyse Trilogy’ of THE THING, PRINCE OF DARKNESS and IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS. More info HERE.

Sun 8/1st 3pm: Some true early 80s fantasy with EXCALIBUR (1981) at TEXAS THEATER. Merlin the magician helps Arthur Pendragon unite the Britons around the Round Table of Camelot, even as dark forces conspire to tear it apart. More info HERE.

Sat 7/31st 3:30pm & 8:30pm: The best of the series in George Lucas’ classic trilogy (and the series in general), THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1981) screens at AFI SILVER Maryland. Note that this is the restored 1997 ‘Special Edition’, however, it was the installment with the least amount of alterations.
