HALLOWEEN CLASSICS ON THE BIG SCREEN!

Horror fans are probably the most passionate bunch of cinephiles, so Halloween is always a big one for cult classics on the big screen. Check out our round up of favorites for a weekend of mischief and mayhem!

Fri 10/29th 8:30pm: Described as a bad sketch comedy riff on THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE and featuring an impromptu rap performance by Digital Underground, NOTHING BUT TROUBLE (1991) marks both Dan Akroyd's directorial debut and his sole directorial credit—it's the kind of indisputably and indubitably terrible trash that has to be seen to be believed. Screens at THE HOLLYWOOD THEATRE, Portland. More info HERE.

Fri 10/29th 8:30pm: A medical student sets out to recreate his decapitated fiancée by building her a new body made of Manhattan street prostitutes in this cult comedy that carried a glowing recommendation from Bill Murray on the poster. FRANKENHOOKER (1991) screens at FILM NOIR CINEMA & VIDEO, Brooklyn, NY. More info HERE.

Fri 10/29th & Sat 10/30th Midnight: HALLOWEEN (1978) saw Jamie Lee Curtis and John Carpenter usher in a new age of the slasher film, and a new icon via Michael Myers. Catch it at NITEHAWK CINEMA (Williamsburg), Brooklyn, NY. More info HERE.

Fri 10/29th Midnight: All hell breaks loose as as two brothers (George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino) on the lam from the law, hightail it to Mexico with a kidnapped family in tow, stopping at an isolated strip club that houses a swarm of blood thirsty vampires. FROM DUSK TIL DAWN (1996) will be presented with Quentin Tarantino’s personal 35mm Print at THE NEW BEVERLY CINEMA, Los Angeles. More info HERE.

Sat 10/30 10pm: Openly inspired by both The Exorcist and its Blaxploitation cousin, Abby, SEX DEMON (1975) is a ferocious mix of the erotic and the grotesque that’s primed and ready to shock audiences again after being lost for the past forty years. Screens at SPECTACLE THEATER, Brooklyn NY. More info HERE.

Sat 10/30th 10pm: A teenager is left orphaned by a car crash that wipes out his entire family; he is subsequently haunted by his dead brother. Sat 10/30th 8:30pm: An in-name-only remake of the 1953 Vincent Price film that in fact owes a massive, unacknowledged debt to Tourist Trap (1979), HOUSE OF WAX (2005) is easily one of the most purely entertaining studio horror films of the 2000s. Screens in 35mm at THE ROXIE CINEMA, New York City. More info HERE.
